I get a real buzz from being in a Band and performing to a Live audience.
The priority should be to play what the audience want to hear - nothing better than seeing a full dance floor!

Quick to learn new songs, my style is not over-complex and is adaptable to many genres.
I have a real love of a Soul groove, and seemingly a feel for it too, which translates especially will into
John McVie's bass lines for Fleetwood Mac and some Amy Winehouse songs, as well as some modern R&B.

I'm comfortable, if asked, adding in a Solo burst on Bass, to add something to a Song, or as part of a round of instrumental Solos,
but my main priority is to work closely with the Drums and other instruments, to benefit the whole sound of the Band.

For most Songs, I am comfortable changing Key at short notice, to suit the Vocalist’s range or requirements of other instruments.
I also have a 5-string for when required and can have, if required, one Bass set with a drop D or Eb tuning.

I'm comfortable being smart or casual to suit the occasion (& I have a variety of hats!).

For all regular Bass gigs and nearly all Dep gigs so far, I have pre-learnt the material,
including a last minute Dep gig in the summer of 2021 for an emerging Original artist, with just 4 days notice,.
I had only previously heard two of the Covers in the Set List and none of the Original songs
- that was a real challenge but great fun performing the songs with the wonderful Lydia Lutudi
and an excellent band at the Barefoot Festival.

I can also read any charts and/or sheet music provided, or even improvise from a chord chart for most songs -
I have an iPad with music stand ready for such occasions!

I am able to play a few chords on rhythm guitar/keyboards if the odd song required it.
