My main Bass is a custom-build passive 5-string 30" Bass,
working with
Shuker guitars in north Derbyshire:
"Mustang-style", narrow C-shape maple neck, rosewood board, alder body,
20 frets, lightweight, Schaller bridge/tuners, twin "P-J style" Bartolini pick-ups
(a second identical model in a different colour is currently in build).

This has a "bassier" sound overall, compared to my earlier go-to Fender Mustangs,
due to the build quality, choice of pick-ups and strings
& the 5-string avoids guitar changes during a gig, increasing my flexibility for key changes.

For guitar/bass set-up and repairs I also highly recommend Leicestershire Luthiers.

My pedal-board grew in my early playing career to rival many guitarists I played with, in terms of size!
In recent years, however, having seen the "error of my ways", and not using most of the pedalboard,
I have downsized to a very simple arrangement, now with
a volume pedal and a Sansamp DI "Bass Fly Rig", providing:-
- optional basic Synth sounds;
- variations of Compression, Octaver & Fuzz;
- occasional Chorus flavour.

...but mostly I keep it simple with a Standard setting for most songs,
with a Boost for Solo breaks/sections & I add a little Overdrive or other flavour for certain songs.

Comfortable through a stage amp (generally Ashdown) or direct to the PA from the Sansamp DI,
I'm happy to use stage monitors or wireless IEMs (all Shure PSM200, P2R-S5, SE215).
I generally uses a Lekato wireless bass to pedal-board connection, enabling mobility around the stage.

I'm developing a Home Studio, now sound-proofed, now available for collaboration, including recording, rehearsal and composition.
As well as various Basses, Guitars and Amps, I have a Behringer Xair, PA speakers, Roland TD4 Electric Drum Kit & Roland BK-5 Keyboard.
